How to play

  1. Buy the gravity & magnetics survey to reveal the basin's depth structure and the mature source-rock kitchen (green = oil window, red = gas window). Hydrocarbons migrate out of the kitchen β€” traps close to it are better charged.
  2. Shoot 2D seismic: click β€œPlan 2D seismic” and drag a rectangle over the map. Review the outlined area and cost, adjust by dragging again (or editing the coordinates), then press Commission 2D survey to confirm β€” nothing is spent until you confirm. Mapped closures become leads. Subtle stratigraphic traps are often missed; anticlines are easy.
  3. Use the β›Ά full-screen map button for a bigger view. Drag to pan, pinch or scroll to zoom β€” handy for planning seismic on small screens.
  4. Keyboard users can enter start/end X/Y coordinates and commission a 2D survey with the controls below the map.
  5. Mature leads with 3D seismic. This tightens the size range (P90/P50/P10 prospective resources), confirms or condemns the trap, and may reveal DHIs (flat spots) that de-risk charge β€” turning a lead into a prospect.
  6. Drill wildcats on the best prospects. Success chance = GCoS (source Γ— reservoir Γ— trap Γ— seal Γ— charge). Dry holes tell you which element failed and re-risk the whole play β€” information is never wasted.
  7. Appraise discoveries to narrow contingent resources (1C/2C/3C), then take FID to book reserves (1P/2P/3P) and develop a field. Production ramps, plateaus and declines; revenue repays project debt first.
  8. Trade: accept farm-in offers from competitors or divest any asset at a market bid. Grow company value without going insolvent.
